Empowering Out-of-School Youths through Education-the Greatest Equalizer

Recognizing education as the cornerstone of progress leads to empowering individuals and transforming communities. In a recently concluded important event in Cagayan de Oro City which aligned with the shared beliefs of St. Mary's Academy TVET (SMA TVET) and the Power Trio of Mechanical Engineers in Cagayan de Oro City: The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers Cagayan de Oro Chapter (PSME-CDO), The Professional Mechanical Engineers association of Cagayan de Oro City (PMEA CDO) together with The Cagayan de Oro Mechanical Engineers Foundation Inc. (CDOMEFI), bringing them together at St. Mary's Academy of Carmen Campus on February 15th, 2023 marked the achievement towards our goal to help out-of-school youth & promote communal growth by signing the Memorandum of Understanding.

The idea that education acts as a leveler and makes it possible for people from all walks of life to succeed is commonly expressed. Not just providing knowledge but also imparting essential skills along with boosting confidence among the youth can help them break free from poverty's vicious circle as it is concerning that numerous out-of-school youths in our community face major barriers preventing them from experiencing the life-changing potential of education.

Recognizing the urgency of addressing this pressing issue, the Power Trio of Mechanical Engineers, in partnership with St. Mary's Academy TVET, embarked on a journey to make a lasting impact on the lives of out-of-school youths in Cagayan de Oro City. Their commitment to empowering marginalized youth through education and holistic support was reaffirmed by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding.

Our support offers far reaching gains beyond just those directly involved and investing in the education and empowerment of young people will help to create a society that values inclusivity alongside talent and innovation. A chance given to youths who left school prematurely provides them with an avenue to unlock their fullest potential hence breaking loose from poverty before becoming pioneers in effecting constructive changes.

Also, this collaboration as a stimulant for social transformation. The contribution of expertise, resources, and time by other organizations, institutions & individual is crucially important to uplift the lives of out-of-school youths, and setting this organization as some inspiration as no endeavor can succeed without the power of collective action, and it's up to each and every one of us to support young people who are not in school and help create a brighter future. Mentoring students or advocating for policies that support equal access to education are just a couple of examples of how every contribution matters.

By joining forces, we can produce a transformative impact that surpasses individual efforts and extends to the entire community. Together, we can empower out-of-school youths and create a brighter future for everyone. Our actions will not only give hope to those who are marginalized but will also contribute to building a stronger and more prosperous community for all.
